Definition of Safety Helmets
Safety helmets are important protective equipment to wear when carrying out work at project sites or in workshops. This helmet functions to protect the head from falling materials or hard objects at the project site and protects workers’ heads from heat or rain. Safety helmets can also protect the head from fire and certain chemicals.
Safety helmets also have certain standards to provide proper protection. The materials used to make safety helmets generally use ABS plastic, polycarbonate, Kevlar, and metal. The use of these materials will make safety helmets strong, durable, and high quality, so the safety of its users will be guaranteed. In companies, safety helmets usually have several colors to differentiate workers according to their respective positions and job desks.
6 safety helmet colors and their meanings:
- Yellow: Workers who wear helmets with this color indicate that they are general workers, operators, and subcontractors
- Orange: Users of this helmet are usually external parties or guests of the Company. Those who use this helmet are usually people from outside the company who see the progress of the project.
- White: This helmet is usually used by managers, supervisors, and company officials. The user of this helmet has a big responsibility in their project.
- Blue: This helmet is used by technical operators (electrical technicians), field supervisors, and temporary supervisors.
- Green: This helmet is intended for people whose work is related to the environment. Users are tasked with monitoring and protecting the environment around the project area.
- Red: This helmet is used by safety officers, they are tasked with supervising and carrying out the functions of HSE/K3 in the project.
Basically, the meaning of each safety helmet color is not the same in every factory or project. But what is more important is to maintain the safety and suitability of the safety helmet so that workers can still wear it. If a safety helmet is damaged, the risk of accidents in the workplace increases significantly.
