Definition of Safety Induction
Safety induction, also known as HSE induction, is an essential training or introduction provided to the new employees, contractors, and first-time visitors to familiarize them with the work environment’s occupational safety and health (K3/HSE) standards. to the work environment related to occupational safety and health (K3/HSE).This training aims to inform potential hazards and how to avoid them, ensuring they do not harm themselves or others while they are in the work environment.

Why is safety induction necessary for new workers & guests?
Safety Induction is very necessary and mandatory to ensure the safety and health of all new workers, contractors, and first-time visitors in the work environment. Research from the Health and Safety Executive states that 8 out of 16 deaths due to work accidents occur in the first 10 days at work, which serves as one example on why safety induction is required for new workers, contractors, and first-time visitors. Apart from being required, safety induction is also mandatory for all companies and is regulated in Indonesian Law, (UU No.1 of 1970) concerning work safety.
Furthermore, the obligation to provide safety induction for all companies is also contained in Chapter V article 9 paragraphs 1 and 2 in the same law, regarding guidance which states that:
(1) Management is required to show and explain to each new worker about:
- Conditions and dangers that may arise in the workplace;
- All security and protective equipment required in the workplace;
- Personal protective equipment for the workers concerned;
- Method-safe ways and attitudes in carrying out work.
(2) The management can only employ the workers concerned after they are sure that the workers have understood the conditions mentioned above.
