Definition of HSE Engineer
Those who carry out HSE work are called HSE officers/HSE engineers. They have their scope of work like other employees. Not only preventing and minimizing the risk of accidents in the work environment to create “Zero Incidents” , but HSE officers also have a wider scope of work such as preparing and supervising HSE/K3 programs, identifying various problems that are potentially dangerous for the employees in the company. HSE is also a special part and division within a company to ensure safety, health, and the work environment in general. The position of HSE in a company is usually under the Human Resources (HR) department because HSE’s duties relate to employee safety in the workplace.
To become part of the HSE division usually requires a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, public health, environmental engineering, environmental health, and experience in engineering or the field. This division undergoes a special training program to obtain the latest information regarding industry regulations, emergency response techniques, and the latest safety technology. This special program is needed for workers in the HSE division.
Duties of the HSE Division
The HSE Division must be able to carry out a comprehensive risk assessment to identify potential hazards. The main task of HSE is to develop and enforce health and safety policies, ensuring and monitoring that their employees know and comply with existing policies. In the HSE division, their work is divided into 3, namely:
1. HSE Officer:
- Monitoring the health and safety of workers/employees
- Identifying and mapping potential hazards in the work environment
- Monitor the possibility or chance of an accident that could occur.
2. HSE Supervisor:
- Ensure that all workers use Personal Protective Equipment and are aware of the importance of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Regularly ensure the appropriateness of PPE and work safety equipment such as a first aid kit.
- Provide training programs to workers such as the use of PPE and emergency response.
- Give warnings and impose sanctions on workers who violate existing HSE or K3 regulations.
3. HSE Manager:
- Carrying out work planning, implementation, and supervision.
- Information liaison between the Company and HSE parties involved in the project.
- Responsible for the smooth implementation of HSE-related projects
- Responsible for work safety and security in the workplace as well as the safety of workers such as safety officers, supervisors, engineers, and others.

The HSE Division collaborates with other departments within the Company, including management, production, and others, to ensure that the HSE program that has been created will be effective and sustainable within the factory and the Company. This division is also committed and dedicated to safety, health, and the environment, as they play an important role in creating a safe work environment for all.
At PT. aldzama, the HSE division is a special division that is not under any department, but at PT. Aldzama’s HSE position is below the director. The duties of the HSE division at PT. Aldzama is about maintaining the security, safety and health of all Aldzama employees both at the head office, workshops, and at the project location. That is why the work of the HSE division is very important and needed. With the HSE division, employee safety will be guaranteed and will increase employee confidence when working.
